The Opportunity

The Benefit Programs branch administers benefits plan such as Deferred Salary Leave, Dental, Disability, Extended Health Care, and Group Life to nearly 150 different employers. These employers include Executive Government, Crown Corporations and various Agencies, Boards and Commissions under the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

The Benefit Programs branch is seeking an energetic, forward-thinking, and thorough individual to join the team as a for a Disability Income Plan Analyst.

Reporting to the Manager of the Disability Income Plan, the Disability Income Plan Analyst is responsible for:

  • Providing strategic guidance to the disability income plan advisory council including reviewing and developing policy and reporting in order to meet the requirements of the council;
  • Developing, implementing, application and maintenance of the Disability Income Plan which include conducting research and analysis in the development and implementation for the policy and benefit plans, identifying emerging issues, trends, and risks associated for all stakeholder groups and recommending a course of action to mitigate risks identified;
  • Leading the review, revision, and development of the actuarial valuation analysis and consulting and communicating with the actuaries;
  • Developing, implementing and applying work procedures, training documents and record management for the work unit;
  • Onboarding, coaching, mentoring and training both new team members to the work unit as well as current employees;
  • Training, facilitating and coordinating meetings with employers, lawyers, and other third parties as well as developing documentation to meet their requirements; and
  • Any other duties as appropriate.

Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Extensive knowledge in the development, management, coordination and evaluation of disability rehabilitation programs, and case management practice acquired through several years of experience in disability management;
  • Extensive knowledge of group benefit programs (group life insurance) and disability income plans;
  • The ability to clearly and accurately explain complex issues, policies, procedures, referencing legislation and other information to a variety of stakeholders; and
  • The ability to identify, clarify and analyze relevant issues, concerns or problems in order to provide options and recommendations and implement solutions in a timely fashion.

Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be obtained through the completion of:

  • A bachelor degree in a preferred health related field such as kinesiology, occupational therapy, registered nurse;
  • Post-secondary education with a thorough knowledge of medical terminology, disabling impairments, and the physiological and psychological medical conditions; and
  • Several years of experience in the disability management field.

Candidates will be required to work in the office in Regina.
