YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As intern for Warehousing and Transportation, you will support the team in both operations management as well as continuous improvement activities to improve our way of working and secure customer deliveries in a sensitive logistics environment. From Maastricht we are the Bayer global hub for Medical Devices in the Radiology sector, supplying finished goods, spare parts in Europe, Asia and Latin-America, with the oversight of two regional distribution centers and mobile repair inventory. The internship provides an excellent opportunity to learn a very broad spectrum of logistics in a fast, agile and very passionate organization. You are working on the implementation of warehouse solutions at the 3PL warehouse invoice and cost analytics.
Activities can include, but are not limited to:
- Learn (on the job training, work instructions) pre-defined business processes and validate the daily job against the documentation of SOP and Knowledge database.
- Support in daily operations, e.g. outbound delivery handling, MRP run and delivery creation, on time shipping analysis, report creation, stock count file preparation, root cause investigation and coordination of the logistics service provider.
- Create a documentation of selected business processes (work instructions).
- Deep dive analysis and questioning status quo on selected areas of improvement.
- Design a to be process incl. to be IT (SAP + Excel + MS TEAMS) setup for efficient collaboration in business processes across customers, stakeholders and our team.
- Follow up on projects of previous interns, e.g. in the calibration tools management, communication improvements, returns management documentation.
WHO ARE YOU?
- Students pursuing an MBO, HBO Bsc (final year) or Msc degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business or Informatics.
- Available for a period of 6 months, starting from January/February 2024 onwards.
- Knowledge and experience with logistics operations from previous internships
- and studies (such as inventory control models, cycle counting, inbound and outbound management).
- Have a strong improvement mindset and are willing to challenge processes.
- Good expertise in MS Excel to improve reports and automated updates.
- Fluency in English, written as well as spoken, is required.
- In possession of a driver’s license is a must. It’s a nice to have when you have you own car.
- Description of critical skills: self-motivated, innovative, independent. networker, agility, results orientation, collaboration, planning.
