Hispanic Family Center, a 40 year old nonprofit organization, seeks an art instructor consultant. The art instructor will work after school/evening/summer hours for a two week period (total 18 hours in the period at $25/hour) to carry out the Hispanic Art Workshop series for the benefit of the HFCSNJ and the population served through the Family Success Center.
Workshops will highlight the influence of Latino artists and Latino culture in art. Students/participants will learn about cultural history; drawing, sculpting, painting and other art techniques utilized; while creating corresponding two-dimensional and three-dimensional art projects that reflect the personal experiences and artistic expression of the workshop participant. The artistic focus will be on individual artists (past and present) from Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Workshops will compare similarities and differences in both concept and style, with discussion on how artists draw from inspiration from their own lives and turn their creative voice into visual expression. Workshops will also discuss projects, materials, construction techniques and developing an artist’s statement.
The consultant will be:
- Responsible for facilitating the curriculum as outlined and must adhere to all policy and procedures related to the curriculum and to
- Provide a daily update in writing regarding student progress, attendance and any highlights, barriers or concerns regarding the curriculum and/or the
- Responsible for keeping track of all program inventory including reusable and non-reusable supplies and must have students sign in/out equipment when used. This form must be submitted to the Program Director as part of the daily update

Consultant will assist students in the development of several projects during the cycle as well as a final portfolio that will be displayed at future events.
