About the team
The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.
The Opportunity
Right now, we have two permanent opportunities for Road Workers Grade 1-3 to join our regional maintenance teams in Hay NSW. We are seeking those that reside within a 800 km radius from the Hay depot as you will be on call when required. You’ll be working within a work crew consisting of a team leader, road workers and plant operators to undertake road widening, concrete pavement repairs, construction, and maintenance projects.
You will undertake a range of duties to support the efficient construction and maintenance of road infrastructure within New South Wales, including but not limited to:
- maintenance of established pavements
- construction of new or enhanced pavements
- establishment and maintenance of roadside fixtures and signage
- application of road marking materials
- application of bituminous sealing materials
- establishment and maintenance of traffic signals and driver aid devices
- Vegetation management including brush cutting, removing trees and trimming branches.
- Litter removal and clean-up of the road corridor.
- Incident response and removal of immediate hazards to road users.
- Graffiti removal from transport structures.
- Cleaning drainage structures
Road Workers are provided with thorough training and opportunities to develop professionally.
About you
We’re seeking a team-oriented worker who has an eye for detail and is used to working in similar environments.
- You are a practical thinker, quick learner and great communicator who enjoys being physically active performing outdoor manual tasks involving the use of hand tools and equipment within a team setting.
- You hold a valid White Card, current driver licence and traffic control certificates and are able to work outside normal working hours, attend call-outs, travel across the region and stay away from home when needed.
- Holding a truck licence or experience operating plant machinery is advantageous (not essential).
