The Bureau's observing network assets portfolio is distributed across 12,500 sites covering all states and territories of Australia and other jurisdictions. The Observing Network Service Manager will lead the operationalisation of Enterprise Asset Management for the Bureau's Observing Networks, for which assets include, but are not limited to, Radars, Automatic Weather Stations, Tsunami Boys, Rain Gauges and other measuring apparatus.

This role will enable the delivery of sustainable business outcomes through implementation and optimisation of lifecycle asset management across the Bureau's composite Observing Network. To achieve this, the position leads a team that enables the delivery of observing services through management of the physical network assets. It includes the monitoring of network health, identification and management of service delivery risks and issues, and regular reporting against performance indicators.

The success of this role will rely on nurturing and sustaining stakeholder relationships, effectively engaging and collaborating with:

  • Observing Systems and Operations leaders, peers and colleagues.
  • Bureau stakeholders including the Data and Digital Group, Finance, Procurement, and other groups within the Bureau.
  • The Observing Operations Hubs distributed around Australia to ensure a consistent national approach to operations and maintenance.
  • OSO's domestic and international stakeholders and partners.
