Internship Packaging Engineering [Netherlands]

Do more with the knowledge you’re working hard to acquire and the passion you already have. At Amgen, our shared mission—to serve patients—drives all that we do. It is key to becoming one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies, reaching over 10 million patients worldwide. Through this internship opportunity, you will acquire valuable hands-on skills and foundational experience to become the professional you are meant to be in your chosen field.

At Amgen Breda, medicines are labeled, assembled, stored, and eventually shipped to various countries worldwide. Every day more than 1000 people from 38 different nationalities are working on supply chain processes, manufacturing, marketing, and sales of our medicines and clinical research into new medicines.

LIVE

This could be your everyday.

The Packaging Engineering team that is based in Breda is responsible for the (re)design, development, and qualification of new packaging materials and configurations for the European production facilities of Amgen (including contract manufacturing sites). The packaging team works closely with the corporate functions based in California (USA).

As an intern, you will become part of the team and you will have the opportunity to see how you and packaging design can make a difference in delivering products to patients. Next to the standard monthly allowance, you will receive a lot of guidance from our experienced packaging engineers. You will be accountable for your own project.

Currently, we have several topics that could be interesting for both a ‘pre-final year’ and ‘final year’ assignment:

1. Packaging sustainability project:

Help us to set the right ambition when it comes to Sustainable Packaging. From all the ideas on how to make this planet greener, how can we select the ones that make the most impact? For this assignment, we would need someone who is able to combine creativity with analytical thinking. You will work closely together with our colleagues in the US to set up a methodology that will help us set the right priorities.

2. Relation between packaging design, specifications, and machine efficiency.

Help us to rethink the way Amgen packaging specifications are created and used. Can we define our specifications in such a way so that we can become more agile to (supplier) changes and at the same time ensure efficient production to ensure supply to patients?
